Why I Do This Work
My father-in-law, Robert Harmon, gave me the opportunity to start my career in the ammonia industry. My employment background in the space program and interest in computers complimented this opportunity.

I am passionate about this job because I have personally seen or have heard about the ease at which people can get hurt, disabled, or even killed doing the daily job tasks required in the ammonia industry. Raising people’s awareness of just how dangerous their jobs can be is why I continue to do this job. Complacency or lack of following good procedures can be dangerous to our student’s well-being, and I get to be a part of changing their processes.

Safety is an unrealized gain to individuals and the companies they work for. For the individual, the benefit of good health and protecting their life is essential to not only themselves but their families as well. The companies they work for benefit financially and improve their reputation to be a trusted company to those who purchase their products.

Quick Personality Snapshot

  • Coffee Order: my favorite coffee hangouts are Starbucks and The Daily Grind. I generally drink my coffee black with one stevia, or on a whim, I have an occasional “London Fog” (hot).
  • Favorite Place to Travel: I really enjoy Europe since a lot of their history has influenced the growth and successful development of the United States.
  • Favorite Hobby: I have two hobbies that I enjoy: reading the Bible and Bible-related books and reading the science of Astronomy which is related to some Biblical studies.
  • Favorite Music: I love most music, but at home I relax to classical piano music and folk music from the 60’s and 70’s.
  • Favorite Movie: This is tough, but I’m going to choose the Star Trek movies. I have watched them all many times.
  • Something people don’t expect about me: while I spend my days talking to and meeting a lot of people, I am more introverted than extroverted.
