Daniel Barrios brings a strong background in safety management, industrial operations, and hazardous materials response to Industrial Consultants LLC. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management and Drafting, along with a second major in Spanish, providing him with both technical expertise and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams and workforces.

Before joining Industrial Consultants, Daniel served as a Safety Specialist for an egg processing facility, where he gained valuable experience supporting workplace safety initiatives, regulatory compliance, and employee training within a fast-paced production environment. He later advanced into the role of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager for a steel manufacturing facility, where he spent more than a year overseeing safety programs, environmental compliance efforts, and risk reduction initiatives in a demanding industrial setting.

In addition to his professional experience, Daniel served on the Nebraska National Guard Hazmat Team, where he developed specialized training and hands-on experience in hazardous materials response, emergency preparedness, and incident management. This background has strengthened his ability to remain calm under pressure and approach safety challenges with discipline, attention to detail, and a solutions-oriented mindset.

Daniel is passionate about helping organizations create safer workplaces through practical safety programs, effective communication, and strong employee engagement. His combined experience in manufacturing, environmental health and safety, and hazardous materials response allows him to bring a well-rounded and proactive approach to supporting client safety and compliance needs.

My Favorite Part of the Job
My favorite part of the job is when something finally clicks for someone. Sometimes it’s an operator gaining confidence in their system, a supervisor actually understanding how a program is supposed to work instead of just maintaining paperwork, or a team starting to improve because they’re doing something with an understanding of its importance. I like taking complicated regulations and breaking them down into something people can actually use, not just something that sits on a shelf. Traveling and working in different industries excites me. Every facility runs differently, so you can’t just copy and paste solutions. You’ve got to figure out what actually works for that place, and when you get it right, you can see the difference pretty quickly.

Why I Do This Work
I didn’t get into safety because I love reading standards all day. I got into it because I kept seeing the gap between what the textbooks said and what was actually happening in a facility. That gap is where people get hurt. What keeps me doing this is helping close that gap, taking PSM, HAZWOPER, LOTO, and confined space and making them make sense in the real world.
I’ve been to a lot of different facilities across the country (food processing, cold storage, water treatment) and every place is a little different, However, I often hear the same questions.

  • What actually applies to us?
  • What are we really required to do?
  • Is our program actually working, or is it just sitting on a shelf?
For me, safety isn’t about checking boxes. It’s about making sure people go home the same way they came in. Many times that begins with answering those questions and interpreting the standards in a way that actually applies and makes sense to them at their facility.
